John Shuttleworth - Head Chef
John Shuttleworth discovered his passion for cooking at the early age of 13 when baking bread with his grandmother. John has been working in the food industry since he was a teenager. After graduating from Derby College in the United Kingdom aged 19, he started his professional career in the USA for one year. John then returned to England and started working in various Michelin starred establishments in England and Scotland. Relocating to South Africa in 2008 with his wife Andrea, he joined the Rust en Vrede team as a sous chef in 2009 under head chef David Higgs. In 2011, an opertunity was presented to John when David recommended that John would be the ideal candidate to continue David's legacy. He is joined in the kitchen by Juan van Zyl, Fabio Daniel, Liaan Haupt, Amelia Hanekom and Anoescha Lesch who looks after the pastry section.
