Changes at Rust en Vrede - March 2005 With life and living in South Africa never dull, Rust en Vrede recently experienced some structural changes. MANAGING DIRECTOR Jannie Engelbrecht established the estate and the Rust en Vrede wines in 1978. The first winemaker of the estate he was responsible for setting up the first national and international markets for the Rust en Vrede brand. Rust en Vrede is Jannie and his family’s life’s work and his passion and love for the estate are reflected in his commitment to seeing that Rust en Vrede remains one of the top red wine estates in South Africa. Quality at all costs! GENERAL MANAGER Angeline Engelbrecht (Jannie’s elder daughter) is responsible for the general running of the company. A qualified lawyer and having grown up on Rust en Vrede, Angeline is familiar with the company and industry. MARKETING MANAGER Oliver Bauer has gained extensive and valuable experience in the wine trade and international hospitality industry since 1989. WINEMAKER Ettienne Malan, a red wine specialist, has vast experience in winemaking both locally and internationally. VITICULTURIST Wessel Combrink has been in charge of the quality fruit coming from the vineyards since the end of 1999. As our vines age, quality will only improve, vintage after vintage. Our 26 th harvest at Rust en Vrede was a very good one and we remain committed to producing quality wine unique to our terroir. Our vision is to continually improve quality in both product and service. |
