Cape Town Rated World's Best To Eat Out
Cape Town was rated the best city in the world for eating out and
came second after Sydney as the best overall destination in the
world in a recent poll of British Airways staff. The poll of some
of the “most well-travelled employees on the planet”
was published in the September edition of the airline’s onboard
magazine, Highlife.
BA staff nominated their favourite destinations,
cities, hotels, spas, golf courses across 18 categories, including
best street, best romantic getaway, best longhaul hotel and best
for newlyweds. Besides top scoring on the cuisine count, Cape Town’s
rated highly in the best view category, with Table Mountain, coming
second after Corcovado in Rio de Janeiro. The Great Wall of China
came third. South Africa was the only country nominated in the top
five best overall destinations after Sydney, Cape Town, New York
and Dubai. Sydney also topped the poll as the world’s best
city and friendliest city. It came third after New York in the eating
out category. New York was declared the best city for a night out
followed by London, Barcelona, Newcastle and Dublin.
Paris, predictably, was voted the best romantic
getaway, followed by Venice, Rome, Prague and Vienna. Orlando’s
top position as the best for children was equally unsurprising,
although Blackpool was something of a surprise in second place.
Mauritius came tops for newlyweds, followed by Maldives, Barbados,
Antigua and Seychelles.
